Removing iTunes duplicates.

One can realize there is a duplicate when a song plays over and over again in your playlist which is caused by iTunes duplicate of files.

Items can appear more than once and hence need to be deleted from the iTunes library. To be able to delete iTunes duplicates one has to first choose the file then display the exact duplicates (though most of the times it may show songs that are similar but not the same, i.e. the same song that has been recorded twice but at different times of the artist career, later on click the data added column to sort out the data you have then delete on the older items. It is advisable to set up the iTunes library updater that will remove tracks that have been duplicated, most of the times you have to consolidate your library then delete it and later on add all your music afresh.

Deleting iTunes duplicates if it is a track, one has to go to ‘use iTunes built-in’ find the duplicates then remove the duplicate tracks.

If it is a file, deleting iTunes duplicates in the hard disk involves going to the ‘iTunes built in and find duplicates, highlight the tracks in the iTunes library  and transfer them to a new library  to have a copy of your library then delete the tracks in the original library on your drive thus one has a new folder.

Another way out is by use of a share iDupe that helps to remove duplicate files in your iTunes library by allowing to adjust certain settings.

Sometimes it’s just easier to select and remove all items from iTunes, but making sure you don’t remove the actual music files, you have to empty  your library  then got to select file ,add folder to library then select my music folder.

ITunes duplicates tend to appear when you upgrade songs iTunes+ and choose to keep  the old files,  to avoid this go to ‘find duplicates’ then one can be able to choose from either the protected version or unprotected version you want to keep.

Sometimes iTunes uses an automator to move the files from iTunes library to another folder then able to delete it.To use the automator one should open the automator, find items, and move finder items to a new folder then one can delete them.

There is an automatic way of deleting iTunes duplicate with less hassle, this is by downloading a plug-in that first scans the your entire music library, identifies the duplicate songs  and one can either choose to delete them or tag them.

ITunes duplicate songs can be caused by importing downloaded mp3 files to iTunes, thus converting mp3 to iTunes becomes a hassle, also issues with the sound bite of your computer, and incorrect song information.

Though deleting iTunes duplicates may be tricky because some of the files that display duplicates may be of different kinds of files or saved at different quality setting e.g. two songs of different formats, one has to decide whether to delete a copy or keep both of them.
